Sigma Alpha Epsilon, which had its chapter at the University of Oklahoma shut down after video surfaced showing fraternity brothers singing a song containing racial slurs, has had problems at chapters throughout Florida in the past. The Miami Herald reports chapters at the University of South Florida, University of Florida, Florida State University and the University of Central Florida have all been closed or placed on probation for issues dealing with drinking or hazing of new pledges. In 2012, SAE at the University of South Florida was suspended for four years for violating three university policies outlined in the Standards for Student Organization Conduct including harassment, hazing and a failure to adhere to organization, local and national policies, according to an article in the Oracle, USF’s student newspaper. “There is no active chapter at USF currently,” said Lara Wade-Martinez, who directs media and public affairs for USF, who would only confirm that the fraternity was
